ULTRASOUND IN GYNAECOLOGY
Pelvic ultrasound is an examination of the uterus, ovaries and the surrounding structures. Although the examination is started with a preliminary transabdominal scan, an internal transvaginal scan is almost always required for clear views of the organs. Conditions like fibroids, endometrial polyps, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, endometriotic cysts, polycystic ovaries, or fimbrial cysts are detected on transvaginal scanning, and help to arrive at a diagnosis and management plan.
